Silo bag – weight for silage film

Mesh silo bags (weights) are used mainly in agriculture to hold down and seal the sheets covering silage clamps.

Silo bag 25 × 100 cm, with a tie and 3 handles (2 in the middle and 1 at the end), pack of 50. Green.

Main uses

• Weighing down the silage sheet so the wind cannot lift the cover.
• Sealing the sheet better against the silage to keep air out, which improves fermentation and feed quality.
• Replacing old car tyres, which hold water, attract insects and can damage the sheet.
• Securing protective nets and tarpaulins over silage.
• Holding down geomembranes, sheets and covers in agriculture and construction.

Why the handles?

• Easier filling with gravel.
• Easier carrying and placing across the clamp.
• Faster removal and replacement while the silage is being used.

Fill them to 3/4

Filling a silo bag to about 3/4 of its volume rather than to the top has several practical advantages:

• It lies better on the sheet. The bag is not hard as a brick; it follows the uneven silage surface and seals better.
• Less risk of damaging the sheet. A completely full bag with sharp corners presses and wears the sheet more.
• Easier handling. The handles have more room, so carrying and placing is easier.
• The bag stays flexible. The gravel can move inside, so the bag follows the edges and joints of the sheet.
• Less risk of bursting. In an overfilled bag the seams and fabric are under more strain when lifted by the handles.

That is why many manufacturers recommend filling bags to about 70–80% of their volume, not to the top. It gives the best balance of weight, flexibility and durability.

75% full. 100% effective.
